Tourism in Sri Lanka has a history of over three thousand years, a history that is enriched with evidence of pre-historic human settlements, seven kingdoms and the unique architectures, lifestyles, cultures of each cities starting from 377 BC and the history and its remaining’s of the Portuguese (1505 – 1638) and the Dutch (1640 – 1796) eras surely make the little island in the Indian Ocean a paradise for any traveler.
The island was a British Crown colony between 1815 and 1948 and it’s fair to say that the history of motorcycling started during this period. BSA, Norton, BMW, Triumph, Royal Enfield, Sunbeam were some of the ‘early settlers’ in the island.
Riding is one of the main commuting modes in the island and you can also find group riding, organized by clubs, travel companies and enthusiasts.
Having a proper road system almost in every part of the island helps travelers to go deep in to the villages and cities. One can witness and enjoy the endless beaches, the rolling surf, jungle safaris, wet forests and the mountains that can be easily accessed. The traffic, terrain and weather is perfect for a motorcycle adventure any time of the year.
