BELUR & HALEBIDU TEMPLES

Belur and Halebidu are twin cities on the banks of River Yagachi and Belur and Halebidu Temples, two of the finest architectural masterpieces of the Hoysala dynasty. Located in the heart of Karnataka, these temples are a testament to India’s rich heritage and artistic brilliance. The exquisite carvings, intricate sculptures, and celestial beauty of these UNESCO-listed temples, where each pillar and panel narrates epic tales from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavad Gita. Belur – The Chennakeshava Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple is a masterpiece of Hoysala architecture, featuring intricate carvings of gods, goddesses, and celestial dancers. And Halebidu – The Hoysaleswara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Halebidu is adorned with countless sculptures depicting mythological legends and intricate friezes.

HIREKOLALE LAKE

JOG FALLS

It is the second highest plunge waterfall in India. The raw power and breathtaking beauty of Jog Falls, one of India’s tallest and most spectacular waterfalls! Nestled in the lush Western Ghats of Karnataka, this magnificent cascade plunges from a height of 830 feet (253 meters), creating a mesmerizing sight and a thundering roar that echoes through the valley. Witness water gushing down in four distinct streams – Raja, Rani, Roarer, and Rocket – creating a breathtaking spectacle. TUNGABHADRA DAM

It is a multipurpose dam serving irrigation, electricity generation, flood control, etc. for the state. It is India’s largest stone masonry dam and one of the only two non-cement dams in the country. The dam is built of surki mortar, a combination of mud and limestone, commonly used at the time of its construction. Standing tall on the Tungabhadra River, this architectural wonder is more than just a dam – it’s a perfect blend of engineering brilliance, scenic beauty, and serene landscapes. Located near Hospet in Karnataka, Tungabhadra Dam is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers. Once a thriving marketplace of the Vijayanagara Empire, this ancient bazaar still echoes the grandeur of a bygone era. The stone-pillared pavilions, once bustling with traders from around the world, unique handicrafts, jewelry, clothing, and souvenirs reflecting Karnataka’s rich heritage. The stunning backdrop of ancient ruins and rocky landscapes makes for incredible photo opportunities. The bazaar leads to several key attractions, including Virupaksha Temple, Matanga Hill, and Achyutaraya Temple.

VIJAYA VITTALA TEMPLE

The Crown Jewel of Hampi! The grandeur of Vijaya Vittala Temple, the most iconic and architecturally stunning masterpiece of Hampi! This 15th-century marvel, built during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire, stands as a testament to the artistic and engineering brilliance of ancient India. Marvel at the iconic stone chariot, one of India’s most famous historical structures, featured on the 50 note! LOTUS MAHAL & ELEPHANT STABLES

Lotus Mahal – The Jewel of Vijayanagara Architecture. The delicate elegance of the Lotus Mahal, a stunning fusion of Indo-Islamic and Vijayanagara architectural styles. Known for its unique lotus-shaped dome, this graceful palace was likely used as a pleasure pavilion by royal women. Its serene symmetry, intricate arches, and graceful design make it one of the most photographed monuments in Hampi.  Just a short walk away, the Elephant Stables stand as a testament to the grandeur of Hampi’s royal era. Once the royal stables for the mighty elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire, this impressive structure features 11 domed chambers, each designed to house these majestic creatures. The stables’ architectural brilliance combines Islamic and Hindu styles, with large arched doorways and high ceilings that evoke a sense of strength and regal dignity. It’s easy to picture the grandeur of the royal processions and the revered elephants that played such an important role in the empire’s military and ceremonial life.

Badami Cave Temples
